Raise your hand if you love Sugar Cookies? MEEE! I love sugar cookies and not just around Christmas but I really like making them for any holiday or any excuse for frosting, let’s be honest. Plus… I am a busy mom and not Pinterest worthy, or I am not a professional decorator… so these are great for the normal mom who wants fast, easy, delicious sugar cookies you could actually bring to a bake sale and they will know they aren’t re-wrapped from the grocery store!!! You can say YOU ACTUALLY BAKED THEM! HA HA. So this is my VALENTINE’S DAY addition. Heart shaped cookies with pink and red vanilla frosting and of coarse the girls had to cover them in sprinkles.
My amazing friend and neighbor Jenni gave me this sugar cookie recipe and I absolutley loved it because they weren’t overly sugary. All the sugar I need and lets face it, my kids need, is in the frosting so these have a great balance. Plus they are so soft and delicious.
Here’s what you’ll need…
1 1/2 cup of flour
1/2 tsp of baking powder
1/2 tsp of baking soda
1/2 tsp of salt
3/4 cup of sugar
1 egg
2 TBS of milk
1 tsp of vanilla
1/2 cup of salted butter
1 tub of vanilla frosting (Yep I don’t make my own)
Food coloring for frosting color.
Lets get started! First you are going to sift all your dry ingredients into one bowl.
Next, add your butter into your mixing bowl and mix first. Blend in 1 egg, milk, and vanilla. Next, add in your dry ingredients until its all blended together and you have a good ball of dough.

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Now it’s time to roll out your dough and cut the shapes. Add flour to your counter space first so your dough doesn’t get stuck. Roll out to 1/3 inch and cut those cookie shapes
Once you have enough cookies cut out, place on a non stick pan. I use these amazing silicon sheets I got on Amazon.
Bake for 7-8 minutes.
Let cool on cooling rack before decorating. You don’t want your frosting to melt.
Pick your favorite tub of frosting… or find someone cooler than me with a recipe and make your own, then add your food coloring to the colors you want. Frost those cookies and sprinkle sprinkles on top!!!
Have fun decorating and enjoy these yummy cookies!!!
