D.I.Y. Lip Gloss

September 16, 2019      msollie862@gmail.com      Leave a Comment

2 ingredient, do it yourself lipgloss. Yes I said it…… Do it yourself…. and with your kiddos! My daughter loves all things GIRL, so she loves to do her hair, dress up and wear “make-up.” So, I thought it would be fun to make our own Lip Gloss. With that said… I don’t have time to make something that takes forever, with 20 steps, or super messy because I am a busy mom of three… so I wanted something simple enough for BOTH of us!

So insert>>>>>all of the crayons that are broken or used and some coconut oil. Yep… just those two things! Oh and I guess you will need little plastic jars to hold it…. I ordered these on Amazon, but you could just find old jars or little compartments at home.

Here’s what you’ll need…

  • Crayons
  • Coconut Oil
  • Pot of water and a glass bowl (Double Boiler)
  • A small container(s)

First, you need to get some cute kids 😉 and have them pick some crayon colors and unwrap them. Fill free to mix some colors as well. Have them unwrap them and slice into 1 inch pieces.

Next, boil a small pot of water. About 2 cups or so. Place a glass cup or glass boil into the water or place above the pan making a double boiler.

Next, you are going to add the 1 inch crayon pieces into the glass bowl and you’r going to add a 1/2 a teaspoon of coconut oil for every 1 inch piece of crayon you have. (Example- For 8-1 inch pieces of crayons you will have 4 teaspoons of coconut oil.) Melt on medium heat while mixing until all the crayons and oil have melted together. This takes about 3-5 minutes.

Last, you will pour your color liquid into your jars and let them cool for about 10-15 minutes or until hardened. Then have fun and apply to lips! It will have color in them when you place on your lips, but not crazy bold.

Have fun making all different colors and having your little helpers LOVE this D.I.Y. craft!

Enjoy!-M xoxo
